FAIRBANKS, Alaska - West Valley High School saw another athlete sign their National Letter of Intent yesterday as Ellen Silva signed to go play Basketball for the UAA Seawolves next fall.
Silva has been a standout for the West Valley Basketball team, helping them reach the State Championship Tournament last year.
She was named to both the Mid Alaska Conference and State Championship All-Tournament teams for her efforts.
She will now take her talents to the next level while staying in Alaska.
The Seawolves are a division 2 school who are ranked #6 out of all the D-2 Women's teams in the country and play in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, along with the Alaska Nanooks.
Silva talks about her decision to head South for the next level.
"Well I've been going to the UAA Camps for the last couple years. I've always liked the program they've had there. They're like a big family and they all work hard. When I went on an official visit it just made it that much more of a want for me to go play there. After the pressure relieved today I just want to focus on the season coming up," said Silva.
