FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 2019 Ice Jam Tournament rolled on last night at West Valley High School, where the host school was not only victorious in their first round matchup, they were outright dominant, defeating the Eagle River Wolves 66-12.
The Wolfpack jumped out to a remarkable 22-1 lead after the first quarter of play and were able to ride that momentum from there.
Three different players earned double digit points but Ellen Silva led the team with 14.
Jozey Martellero dropped 12 points while Ali May contributed 10.
Since this was their first home game of the year, The Wolfpack also took some time to celebrate Sierra Tate passing 1,000 career points, a milestone she hit earlier this season.
The Wolfpack will now advance to the winner's bracket, where they will take on the Bartlett Golden Bears, who defeated Juneau-Douglas 55-47.
The other winner's bracket matchup will see Lathrop, who defeated East Anchorage 41-39, against Anchorage Christian, who were able to coast to a 67-25 win over Valdez.
East will meet Valdez in the consolation bracket while Bartlett will take on Eagle River.
This is a double-elimination tournament, with the title game set for Saturday at 4:30pm.
