West Valley and Lathrop Matchups set for MAC Championship games

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - March Madness has hit its stride when it comes to High School Basketball in Alaska with Conference Championship Tournaments taking place all throughout the state.
Here in the Interior, the Mid Alaska Conference Championship tournament began at Lathrop last night.
In the girl's bracket, the host school advanced to the championship game with a 77-18 win over the North Pole Patriots.
Lathrop jumped out to a 29-6 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back from there.
Ella Roberts led the Malemutes in scoring with 24 points while Luciana Perez finished with 13.
Lianna Tuck added 12, Torin Johnson-Oates had 11, and Olivia Kraska finished with 10.
Laura Donovan led the Patriots with 9 points.
The Malemutes will now take on the West Valley Wolfpack tonight for the Mid Alaska Conference Title.
The Boys championship game will also see our two cross-town rivals face off due to Lathrop advancing with an 83-52 win over North Pole.
This was a team effort as Mekhi Briggman, Jhon Rones, and Michael Fernandes all dropped 10 points.
The Pats were led by Kenny Peterson, who dropped 34 points in his final high school game.
The West Valley and Lathrop Basketball teams will now compete for the MAC Title tonight, with a trip to the State Championships on the line.
