UAF Volleyball team swept in Tournament Opener

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - This morning the Alaska Nanook Volleyball team began competing in their second tournament in as many weeks.
This time they are taking part in the Division 2 West Region Showcase in San Rafael California.
The Nooks had a rough start to showcase play, falling in three sets to the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters.
CSMB won the first set 25-20, the second 25-17, and finished the sweep with a 25-18 win in the third.
The Nanooks were outperformed in every statistical category in this tournament contest, including being outscored 40-25 in kills.
Lahra Weber was the leader for the Nooks, finishing with 7 kills.
Makena Overbey finished the game with 13 kills while Cate Whiting and Kim Wong both finished with one block.
Whiting was also the Assist leader, finishing the game with 20.
The Nanook Volleyball team still has three more tournament games.
They will take on Dominican University tonight, and then will play both Point Loma and Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday.
They will play at home for the first time this season Next Thursday against Central Washington.
