FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Hockey team was able to earn a much-needed sweep over the weekend against the Ferris State Bulldogs.
After defeating their WCHA Foes 4-2 on Friday night, the Nooks earned a 4-1 win on Saturday.
Saturday's game was scoreless through the first period, but Ferris State was able to light the lamp 1 minute and 49 seconds into the second period.
That would end up being the last time the Bulldogs found the back of the net on Saturday as the Nanooks then scored four unanswered goals to take home the win.
Troy Van Tetering and Colton Leiter scored their two goals in the middle frame, while Leiter scored again in the third along with Tayler Munson.
Zach Frye, Steven Jandric, Nick Hinz, Chad Staley, and Nikolas Koberstein all passed out assists for the Nooks while Goaltender Anton Martinsson earned the win.
He stopped 18 of the 19 shots fired his way in his 60 minutes between the pipes.
The Sweep brings the Nooks up to 11-15-2 overall this year and 9-12-1-1 in WCHA Play.
They are seventh place in the Conference with 29 points.
They will have a chance to move up in the standings on the road this weekend against Northern Michigan.
