FAIRBANKS, Alaska - We had two Athletes sign their National Letters of Intent yesterday.
Out at North Pole High School, Kailey Fowlkes signed on to Wrestle at Southern Oregon.
Fowlkes just finished off another State Championship winning season this fall.
She didn't lose a single match in her senior season, which culminated with her third consecutive State Championship win in the 106 pound weight class.
Southern Oregon is an NAIA School in Ashland Oregon who are members of the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association.
Fowlkes is the first Wrestler from any interior school to sign her NLI this year, and the first Interior women's Wrestler to sign on to a college wrestling team in over 20 years.
After dominating the High School competition, Fowlkes is ready for all the challenges of the next level.
Kailey Fowlkes; Signed to Southern Oregon>>: "It's a lot of weight off my shoulders. Once Southern Oregon gave me my scholarship I kind of knew that that's where I wanted to go. They have such a great athletic program. They are kind of new with it but they are now ranked top ten and I really wanted to be a part of that. It's really special to me. I honestly didn't think I'd ever be good enough to get to this level. But it's kind of getting set into reality now that I get to continue my wrestling career. Being able to wrestle at a really well-known university is really special to me. To show other girls that I work with at the Middle School that they can wrestle in college now. It's great to be one of the first."
