Three Nanook Rifle Shooters Earn All-American Honors

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Rifle team wrapped up their season with a trip to the National Championships.
They finished 8th overall, with a team score of 46-40.
The event started off with the Smallbore, where the Nooks shot a score of 22-87 to take eighth place. ​
Kellen McAferty was the top shooter for the nanooks in that event, finishing with 581 points. ​
It then came to a close with the Air Rifle, which saw the Nanooks take fifth with a score of 23-53. ​
JT Schnering was the top Nanook shooter, finished with 593 points. ​
Three members of the Rifle team earned some additional honors when the event was all said and done.​
Schnering earned multiple awards, being named NRA second team, in both the Air Rifle and Smallbore. ​He was also named CRCA Third team. ​
Haley Castillo and Kellen McAferty each earned one spot, with Castillo being named NRA second-team Air Rifle, and McAferty earning a first team NRA Air Rifle Spot in his first ever season with the Nanooks. ​
