Fairbanks Ice Dogs earn elusive win over Springfield Jr. Blues

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs continued their 2018-ending road trip in the lower 48 on Saturday against the Springfield Jr. Blues.
For the first time this season, the Dogs defeated their Midwest Division rivals, defeating the Blues 5-3.
The Dogs got off to a hot start in this one, earning one goal in the first period and two more in the second all while holding Springfield scoreless.
The Blues did get on the board with 3 goals in the final frame, but the Dogs were able to keep their distance with a pair of their own.
All the goals for the Dogs were scored by different players with Parker Brown, Jonathan Sorenson, Jack Johnston, Luke Ciolli, and Jax Murray all lighting the lamp.
Murray also dished out an assist to finish with two points while Andrew Garby, Matt Koethe, Grant Ledford, and Luke Mobley all earned an assist of their own.
Goaltender Nate Reid stopped 35 of the 38 shots fired his way to secure the victory.
The Dogs are now 16-10-2-2 overall this year.
They hold third place in the NAHL Midwest Division with 36 points.
The Dogs will be in Wisconsin for a two game series against the Chippewa Steel this Friday and Saturday.
