FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program was in a hole early on against the Concordia Cavaliers for a GNAC matchup on Saturday.
Alaska fell 71 to 44 to the Cavs as the first quarter dictated the game, with Concordia outscoring the Nooks 29 to10 to start the match.
After that, the Nanooks played tough as the rest of the game went 42 to 34, but the opening frame put Alaska behind the 8-Ball.
The Nooks were led by Kylie Wallace and her 18 points and 8 rebounds as the Nanooks had no answers on defense for Concordia in the first.
Majority of their points came off layups, and Alaska's three-point shooting couldn't keep them in the game as they went 3 to 18.
This knocks the Nanooks record down to 1 and 15 in the GNAC and they now head on the road to face the Saint Martin's Saints.
The Saints are 3 and 13 in the conference and they are coming off a 20 point loss to the Simon Fraser Clan.
This series starts at 6 P.M. in Lacey, Washington on Thursday.
