Studs defeat Goldpanners in series opener

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners kicked off their second home stand of the season last night against the Seattle Studs.
This four game series got off on the wrong foot for the home team with the Studs winning 6-3.
The two teams were tied at two runs each, but a five run fourth inning spelled disaster for the Panners, allowing the Studs to seal the victory.
The Studs were extremely efficient, scoring their six runs on twelve hits with zero errors.
Mitch Viydo earned the win on the mound for the Studs.
He pitched for five innings and stuck out nine batters.
The win will now move Seattle up to 10-4 on the year while the Goldpanners fall to a similar record, sitting at 8-4 on the season.
These two teams will be playing once again in the Main Event of Summer Sports here in the Interior.
The Midnight Sun Game will be taking place tonight at 10pm.
The game will be running the whole nine innings with no natural light and, as anyone who has attended this game will tell you, it's a can't-miss event.
