Shocking upset lifts Lathrop wrestling to third place finish in State Championships

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The State Wrestling Championships took place over the weekend down in Anchorage and we had several Interior Athletes earn top honors.
For the Lathrop Malemutes, Jeremy Bockert was able to defeat the reigning and previously undefeated two time State Champion Adam Concepcion in the 103 pound weight class to bring a state title back to Fairbanks.
That was the first of a pair of championship wins for the Malemutes, who also saw Andrue Shepersky take home the 160 pound crown.
He defeated his cousin Nathan Kisgen in the championship match, securing a first and second place finish for the Malemutes.
The North Pole Patriots crowned a State champion in Bradley Antesberger, who secured his third consecutive State Title in the 189 pound class.
North Pole also earned a third place finish from Sabastian Benefield in the 125 pound weight class.
In the overall team standings, South Anchorage took the crown with a 340 point score.
They won 6 of the 14 weight classes.
Colony took second with 316 points and Lathrop finished third with 261.
