Ruthy Hebard discusses upcoming game at UAF

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - We are four days away from one of the biggest games in the history of the Patty Center.
The Alaska Nanook Women's Basketball team will be hosting the Oregon Ducks to open their 2018-2019 season on Tuesday at 7pm.
The Ducks are ranked #3 in Division 1 Women's Basketball and will be led by Fairbanks' own Ruthy Hebard, the reigning national power forward of the year.
We were able to reach Ruthy over the phone this morning about how this game came to be, and how excited she is to play college ball in her hometown for the first time.
"I just remember being recruited and I told some of the coaches who recruited me that family is a big part of me and Alaska is a big part of me because I grew up there. I have so much family up there and I remember Coach Graves telling me that he would definitely try his hardest to get a game in Alaska before I graduated. That just shows how much he values his players and how much he values family. So I'm really excited to be able to go up there. I'm so excited. I haven't been able to play basketball at home in a while. I can't wait to go and play at UAF again in front of my friends and family. I've been getting so many texts and all this stuff from people saying they got tickets. So I just can't wait to see everybody there," said Hebard.
