Penalty Kick in Final Minutes Pushes West Valley Soccer Past Lathrop

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Three Soccer games highlighted the action on the Turf last night.
First up was a Mid Alaska Conference Matchup between the Eielson Ravens and North Pole Patriots. ​
North Pole was victorious in a 5-2 effort. ​
The Patriots will now prepare to play Eielson again this Friday. ​
Also in that early set of games, the West Valley girls defeated Lathrop 8-0. ​
Aubrey Stacy accounted for the majority of the Wolfpack goals, finishing the day with five. ​
The final game of the night saw the West Valley boys defeat Lathrop in a 3-2 thriller. ​
West Valley led 1-0 after the first half, but the Malemutes tied it up with a penalty kick. ​
The Pack reclaimed their lead but yet another PK from Lathrop tied it back up at 2 goals each with time winding down. ​
With only minutes left in the game, the Wolfpack sank a penalty kick of their own to put their cross-town rivals away for good. ​
Drew Rizk netted the game winning kick for West Valley. ​
Next up for both of these teams will be a trip down to the south-central region this Friday and Saturday.
