FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Alaska Goldpanners finished their 2019 campaign with 34 wins and a fifth place finish at the National Baseball Congress World Series in early August.
They impressed some folks, and were acknowledged for a couple of awards at the NBC Classic in Wichita, Kansas.
The Goldpanners were recognized as the best offensive team by the congress awards that were released Monday.
Through pool play, the Goldpanners swept their way to a 3-0 record and a first round bye in the playoffs.
Through the five games of the tourney, the Goldpanners pushed 36 runs across the plate, while batting .300 as a team.
Panners infielder Colin Runge was named to the All-American Team for the tournament. The third baseman batted 6 for 12 (.500) in the World Series, while driving in 4 RBI's and scoring four runs himself. He also drew five walks and had 24 put outs at third base.
All of the Goldpanner players now head back to their respective schools to get ready for their collegiate seasons.
