Pair of Minnesota swimmers sign with Alaska Nanooks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Swim team has signed two new swimmers who will be joining the squad in 2019.
First up we have Sydney Gulon from Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
Gulon will be coming to the Nanooks from Detroit Lakes High School, where she was a six-time letter winner for the Lakers.
She was a six time medalist in the Minnesota Single-A State Championships.
She medaled in the 100 yard Breaststroke twice and the 500 yard Freestyle three times and won 18 conference championships
She holds the Mid-State Conference record in the 200 yard Medley relay, the 400 yard freestyle relay, as well as the 200 and 500 yard freestyles.
She has also earned achievements out of the pool, winning her high school's Gold Standard Academic Award four times.
She'll be joining the Nooks in the fall of 2019, where she plans on majoring in Justice.
The Nanooks were able to add another standout from the Land of 10,000 Lakes as they also signed MaKayla Suominen from Cloquet Minnesota.
In her time with the CEC Lumberjacks, Suominen has won the 50 and 100 yard freestyles in four consecutive 7A State Championships.
She is a three-sport athlete for the Lumberjacks, competing in swimming, track and field, and Weightlifting.
These are the first two recruits to sign with the Nanooks in this early signing period.
They are also the first recruits to sign under Associate Head Coach Becca Weiland, who will take over the swim team as Head Coach in 2019.
