North Pole outlasts Monroe Catholic in Aurora Conference Shootout

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - An Aurora Conference Hockey Contest was held last night in the Polar Ice Arena in North Pole.
The North Pole Patriots hosted the Monroe Catholic Rams, and were victorious in a shootout, defending home ice with a 9-7 victory.
After two periods of action, Monroe Catholic held a 5-3 lead, but the Patriots were able to tack on an incredible six goals in the third period to steal the victory.
Daniel Crutcher led the way in scoring for the Pats, earning a hat trick with three goals.
Jessie Kieth found the back of the net twice to account for two goals while Simon Laszloffy, Seth Theriault, Devon Clark, and Cody Benjamin all added goals of their own.
For the Rams, Caleb Sanborn accounted for six of the team's goals while Antonio Szumigala accounted for the seventh.
Despite the final score, Monroe's Jordan Higbee was able to earn 46 saves in his time between the pipes.
For the Patriots, Katy Vinton and Nic Clark split time in goal, Vinton earning 9 saves and Clark finishing with 10.
The Patriots will now be off until they play Delta on January 10th, while Hutschison will be in action against Glennallen on Saturday.
