FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Week Two of the Valdez Halibut Derby saw a fisherman from Palmer unseat one of our Interior Anglers in the overall rankings.
Fairbanks' Brian Auvil brought in the second largest Halibut of the week on May 27th, when he hauled in a 107.4 pound fish on the Dan Orion.
The Heaviest fish of the week was reeled in by Jim Beach, a Palmer Fisherman who caught a 119.6 pounder on May 30th.
That weekly leader was caught on the Jaime Lynn.
In the overall standings, those two fish are in second and third behind the near 150 pound monster that a North Pole Teenager reeled in on the opening week.
Clayson Wiley still holds the Number one overall spot with the 148.4 pounder that he caught on the Dan Orion on May 26th.
Clayson is going to have to hold on to his spot for a while as the Halibut Derby runs through September 2nd, whoever has the heaviest fish at the end will receive a $10,000 cash grand prize.
Second place will receive $3,000 and Third will take home $1,500.
