FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Big Dipper Ice Arena hosted an Aurora Conference battle between the North Pole and Monroe Catholic hockey teams.
The Patriots dominated this one, bringing home a 10-3 win.
The Pats started off hot, scoring four goals before the Rams got one.
Monroe was the first team to score in the second period, making it a two goal game before North Pole went on another scoring run, adding three goals in that middle frame.
The Pats then outscored their conference foes 3-1 in the final 15 minutes to secure their win.
Caleb Sanborn accounted for two out of the three Monroe goals while Casey Elterman added the other.
Seven different players accounted for the Patriot scores, but Daniel Crutcher led the way with a hat trick.
Kody Genz added a pair of goals while Ryan Geese, Devon Clark, Seth Theriault, Jessie Keith, and Orin Peters all added individual scores.
Goaltender Moses Halbert earned 23 saves in the win.
For Peters, who is a Senior this year, that unassisted goal in the first period was the first of his high school career.
We talked to him after the game about lighting the lamp for the first time, and his team's dominant effort.
"Basically they didn't have anyone in front of the net so I put it on and it went in, so, put pucks on you know? There's a lot of team spirit, we're out here playing hard together as a team so the energy is really up. It just feels amazing. It's energetic, I love it man. It's a lot of fun," said Peters.
The Patriots will now be off until the 22nd when they host the Hutchison Hawks. The Rams will host Tri Valley on that same day.
