"It was really cool, I've never played with a ringet before, and having that, it's definitely different than on the ice,” said Nanooks Chase Dubois. “Playing with the Special Olympics, they're a great group of guys. They're really fun to be around, they're light-hearted. They're really fun to play with."

At the Patty Center, several UAF players took on members of the Tanana Valley Special Olympics team for a game of floor hockey. Similar to years past, Tanana Valley came away with the win, coming from several goals down to win in overtime.

“This, I have to say, is the absolute most exciting because I think we came back from 4-2 or 5-2 deficit to come back and win it in overtime is amazing." said Tanana Valley Special Olympics’ Mary Bunten.

The Tanana Valley team now prepares for the 2020 Winter Games down in Anchorage on March 13-15.
