Nanook Womens basketball team signs recruit from Kotzebue

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Women's Basketball team has signed their first recruit under head coach Kerri Nakamoto, and this one is an Alaska-Grown prospect.
Alanna Conwell from the Kotzebue Huskies is the first recruit to sign with the Nanook Women in this early signing period.
The 5 foot 11 forward helped the Huskies reach the ASAA 3A State Championship Tournament at the end of last season.
Their tournament stay came to an ubrupt end with 76-46 and 48-43 losses to Anchorage Christian and Nikiski.
After earning a third-team all 3A honor her sophomore year, she has been a second team All-State player for the past two seasons.
She has also put on quite the performance in the classroom, serving as a member of Kotzebue's National Honor Society, and has earned the Superintendent Award for her 4.5 Grade Point Average.
She will now get the chance to continue her basketball career at the college level when she arrives at the University of Alaska in the fall.
Until then, she will be playing her senior year with the Huskies.
The Nanooks will continue their 2018 Campaign at home on January 3rd.
They will take on the Western Washington Vikings in an attempt to earn their first GNAC win since February of 2017.
