Nanook Volleyball winning streak snapped by Western Washington

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The historic winning streak for the Alaska Nanook Volleyball team came to an end on Saturday night against the top team in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
The Nanooks fell to the Western Washington Vikings three sets to none on Saturday.
Every set was a battle as Western won the first set 25-22 and the next two sets 25-20.
Abby Phelps led the Vikings in their victory with 11 kills while Lahra Weber earned the same amount for the Nanooks.
Makena Overbey led the Nooks in digs with 18 while Cate Whiting finished with 28 assists.
That was the first loss in about a month for the Nanooks, who were riding a 7 game winning streak into Saturday's game.
Western, on the other hand, was able to extend their own winning streak to 18 consecutive games.
The Nanooks are now 10-11 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
They'll be on the road for their next contest this Thursday against Concordia.
