Nanook Volleyball team suffers 0-4 record at West Region Showcase

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Volleyball team had a rough time in the Division 2 West Region Showcase this weekend.
After dropping the first two contests of Friday, the Nooks were once again defeated by both opponents on Saturday.
They opened Saturday with a sweep at the hands of the Point Loma Sea Lions.
Point Loma won the first set 25-21, the second 25-20, and the third 25-19.
Tatum Upchurch led the Nooks in kills with 8 while Cate Whiting led in assists with 28 and Makena Overbey earned 22 digs to lead the team in that category.
The Undefeated Cal State Los Angeles then made the Nanooks fall to 0-4 in showcase play with a 3-1 victory.
After the Golden Eagles won the first two sets 25-14, the Nooks prevented the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third.
CSLA then finished them off with a 25-18 victory in the finale.
Emily Moorhead led the team in kills this time with 9, while Whiting still led in assists with 26, and Overbey was once again the Dig-Leader with 8.
The Nanooks will play their first game at home on Thursday, when they host Central Washington.
