Nanook Volleyball team drops third straight conference game

Fairbanks, Alaska The Alaska Nanook Volleyball team was down in Anchorage last night, taking on their in-state rivals the UAA Seawolves.
The Nanooks are still looking for their first conference win of the year, once again falling 3 sets to 1 to their GNAC opponents.
The Seawolves won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-16.
The Nooks were able to rebound and win the third set with a 25-18 effort, but UAA was able to shut them down with a 25-19 win in the fourth.
UAA led the Nanooks in every statistical category to help secure their win.
Eve Stephens led the Seawolves in kills with 21.
Ellen Floyd dished out 30 assists while Anjoilyn Vreeland led the home team in digs with 26.
Individually for the Nanooks, Tatum Upchurch was the leader on the offensive side, finishing with 15 kills while Lahra Weber added 12.
Cate Whiting dished out 37 assists while four different Nanooks earned double digit digs.
Weber finished with 14, Upchurch added 13, Mica Shenglen earned 11 while Makena Overbey led the team with 16.
The Seawolves will improve to 8-2 overall while the Nooks are on the opposite site of the spectrum at 2-8.
They are also 0-3 in GNAC play.
They will continue their search for their first conference win on the road when they head down to Billings Montana for Saturday night's game against the Yellowjackets.
