FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Volleyball team was able to successfully return home last night with a victory over the Saint Martin's Saints.
The Nooks took this one in a clean sweep.
They won the first set 25-18, the second 25-20, and the third 25-17.
This win didn't come without a fight as the Nooks held a 20-9 lead at one point in that first set.
Saint Martin's rallied but the Nooks were able to hold off their resilient opponents in each of the three sets.
Lahra Weber led the way in Kills with 15 while Cate Whiting dished out 31 assists.
The win brings the Nanooks up to 12-12 overall, matching the highest win total under head coach Brian Scott.
Despite the win, Scott and the rest of the Nanooks felt they could have played better against the Saints as they approach the final home game of the season on Saturday.
"I'm stoked that we got the win. I just think we could have been better. We could have been crisper. Maybe I'm doing a little bit too critical, a little bit too picky here. I just feel like... I didn't feel like that was the team that... The presentation we could have been putting out on the floor maybe," said Scott.
"It's been a ride at home. We really enjoy these home games and I know we're going to miss it. We've had a lot of community support this season and that's really helped us. If we come in on Saturday and we're just willing to leave it all on the court I think it could be a good way to go into our travel games next weekend," said Whiting.
