Nanook Rifle team fires off with 2-0 start to their season

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Rifle team will begin their 2018 campaign with a perfect record after claiming victories in both contests this past weekend.
After edging the Ohio State Buckeyes by seven points on Friday Night, the Nooks defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 4693 to 4662 on Saturday.
The two top shooters on Saturday for the Nanooks were Kellen McAferty and JT Schnering, who were also the two overall scoring leaders.
McAferty finished the day with 1,177 total points and earned a match-high 587 points in the Smallbore.
Schnering finished with 597 points in the Air Rifle competition to help the Nanooks improve to 2-0 on the season.
They are currently ranked third in the country.
They will continue their season at home with a tri-meet against Jacksonville State this Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
All of those matchups are set for a 9am start.
