FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Men's Basketball team fell in their first conference contest of the year.
They opened up GNAC play against Montana State Billings.
MSU-B was victorious in this one, winning 79-76.
It was a two point game with less than a minute remaining in this battle, but the Nooks missed three 3-point shots in that final minute.
MSU-B then had to simply keep the Nanooks at bay and make one more free-throw to secure the win.
Tyler Green and Zack Rollins led the Yellowjackets to victory, both dropping 16 points.
The Nanooks saw yet another electric performance from Aushanti Potts-Woods, who dropped 21 points.
Michael Kluting once again led the team in rebounds with 7 while also tying for the team lead in assists along with Potts-Woods, Spencer Sweet and Jalon McCullough, who all dished out three.
This was the first contest against former head coach Mick Durham for the Nanooks, who resigned from UAF in the spring to take the same job in Billings.
The Nooks now fall to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
They will play at home for the first time since November 5th for a conference battle against the UAA Seawolves on December 8th.
