FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Hockey team was able to secure their first win of the season and the first of the Erik Largen Era with a 4-3 victory over the Lake Superior State Lakers.
History was made in dramatic fashion down in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The Nooks were facing a 3 goal deficit after Lake State scored back-to-back-to-back Powerplay goals in the second period.
The Nooks closed out that middle frame with a powerplay goal of their own by Colton Leiter.
They were then able to steal the victory with three unanswered goals in the third period.
Those three goals were scored by the brother duo of Steven and Chris Jandric,
Steven finishing with two and Chris with one.
For his four point weekend Chris Jandric was named the WCHA's Rookie of the Week.
He finished the two-game series with two goals and assists.
After the weekend action, The Nooks are now 1-7-2 overall and 1-2-1-1 in WCHA Play.
They will now play at home for the first time in over a month this weekend.
They will host the University of Alabama Huntsville in a two-game conference series this Friday and Saturday at the Carlson Center.
