FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The University of Alaska Hockey team started their season with a 2 game series in Tempe Arizona, against the Arizona State Sundevils.
This series was not an ideal start for the Nanooks, who fell in both contests.
They dropped Saturday's game by a score of 3-0, while giving up 5 goals on Friday to suffer a 5-0 loss.
They were also outshot in both contests with the Sun Devils firing 32 shots on goal in Sunday's game, while the Nanooks only sent 13.
The losses will bring about a rough start for the Nooks as they begin the Erik Largen era, sitting at 0-2.
After 120 scoreless minutes in the Desert, the Nooks will return to the North for their first home series of the year this weekend.
They will host the St. Cloud State University Huskies this Friday and Saturday at the Carlson Center.
