Nanook Basketball teams suffer close losses

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Both Basketball teams for the University of Alaska were in action on Saturday.
We'll start with the home game between the Nanook Women and Montana State Billings.
MSUB was able to escape the Patty Center with an 80-72 victory.
This one was extremely close with the teams staying within three points of eachother in three out of the four quarters, but a 23-16 third quarter helped the yellowjackets secure their win.
Billings was led by a 29 point effort from Hannah Collins while the Nooks saw two players score over 20, Marian Wamsley earning 23 and Kylie Wallace finishing with 22.
The Nooks are now 3-9 overall and 0-6 in GNAC play.
They will be on the road this Thursday in Portland Oregon against Concordia.
The Nanook men suffered a close loss of their own on Saturday, falling to Saint Martin's on the road in overtime.
The Saints won 87-80.
The home team was able to outscore their northern opponents 42-40 in the first half, but a 32-30 second half by the Nanooks forced overtime.
Unfortunately for the Nooks, Saint Martin's was able to secure the win with a 15-8 effort in OT.
Luke Chavez led the Saints with 25 points while Tymoryae Glover and Michael Kluting shared the lead for the Nanooks, both dropping 21 points.
The Nooks are still looking for their first win of 2019 as they now sit at 4-9 overall and 1-5 in GNAC play.
They'll be in home action this week, hosting the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks on Thursday.
