Nanook Basketball teams fall to conference foes

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Basketball teams were in action last night, with both falling in conference losses.
Here at home, the Nanook Men fell to the top team in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, the Saint Martin's Saints by a score of 86-68.
The Nooks had their opponents right where they wanted them, with Saint Martins holding a four point lead at halftime.
However, the Saints pulled away and outscored the Nooks 49-35 in the second half to secure the win.
BJ Standley had a monster 30 point night for the Saints while Spencer Sweet led the Nanooks with 25 points.
The loss drops the Nanook Men to 5-15 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
The Nanook women suffered a defeat on the road, falling 84-65 to the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets.
Taryn Shelley led the yellowjackets with 25 points while the Nooks were led by a 20 point night from Kylie Wallace.
Ashlie Blackburn had a monster night as well, finishing with 15 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 5 steals.
The Nanook women still haven't won a conference game this year, and are 3-17 overall.
