FAIRBANKS The Monroe Catholic Rams made history tonight, by making the Alaska state tournament for the first time in school history. The Rams won 4-2 over the North Pole Patriots on the South Davis Field to claim the Mid-Alaska Conference title. Monroe did so behind the two goals from Nate Walsh and the back line of defense.

Monroe came out firing in the first half, getting three goals put the pressure on the Patriots.
They also received help from Isaac Garcia and Izak Lohrke as both scored a goal to help pad the lead. Jordan Higbee led the defense alongside Josh Gray, Mason Muramoto and Caleb Sanborn as they kept out North Pole’s attack. The Patriots did the close the gap through their offense, with Daniel Crutcher finding the back of the net after beating the goalkeeper to the outside.

The season still has a few more games left, but the Rams can finally say they are heading to state.
