FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The State Championship Basketball tournament rolled on this morning with the Consolation finales and third place games, which saw three of our interior teams competing.
The Monroe Catholic Rams were able to secure fourth place in this year's tourney with a 45-40 win over the Sitka Wolves.
Monroe jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never let go of that lead despite being outscored in the third.
Isaac Garcia and Quinn McHenry shared the scoring lead for the Rams, both scoring 16 points in their season finale.
The Eielson Ravens, after falling to ACS in the State Semi-finals, found themselves in another matchup against a Christian School from Anchorage, the Grace Christian Grizzlies, in a battle for third place.
Grace was victorious in this one, taking third with a 46-36 victory. This one was close for three quarters, but Grace outscored the Ravens 20-9 in the fourth to secure the win.
Nathan Ivanoff led the Grizzlies in scoring with 12 points while Matthew Scarboro finished with 13 for the Ravens.
That loss means that the Ravens will finish at 5th place in the 3A Boy's Bracket.
Our final interior team in action for this year's State Tournament was the West Valley Boys, who played East Anchorage for fourth place.
East, who came into the tournament as the #1 seed for the 4A boys, won this one 57-48.
The Wolfpack definitely gave themselves a chance in this one as both teams were tied at 35 after the third quarter.
East was then able to pull away and outscore their Interior opponents 22-13 in the fourth to secure fourth place.
Kaeleb Johnson dropped 17 points for the T-birds while Dylan Erhart and Cortarius Mingo led the Wolfpack, both dropping 14 points.
West Valley will finish the tournament at 6th place.
