Monroe and Nikiski split non-conference twin bill; West Valley and Lathrop continue stay in Dimond Tournament

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A non-conference Basketball double-header highlighted the high school basketball action here in the Interior.
The Monroe Catholic Rams hosted the Nikiski Bulldogs.
In the girls game, Nikiski escaped with a 46-42 win.
Bethany Carstens led the Bulldogs with 24 points, while Katie Bast dropped 19 for the Rams.
The Monroe boys absolutely dominated their contest, defeating Nikiski 62-22.
The Rams rode the momentum of a 25-4 effort in the first quarter.
The two Isaacs led the way for Monroe with Isaac Garcia scoring 18 points, and Izak Lohrke finishing with 17.
Away from home, the West Valley Wolfpack and Lathrop malemutes continued their stay in Anchorage's lady lynx tourney.
West Valley began play in the gold bracket with a 59-38 loss to Bartlett. Sheridan Blasey led the pack with 13 points.
Lathrop won their opening contest of the Maroon Bracket, defeating Palmer 39-36.
Ella Roberts led the Malmeutes with 11 points.
The Lady Lynx tournament will be running through Saturday.
