Monroe Volleyball completes season sweep of Lathrop

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Monroe Catholic Volleyball team continued to perform well against 4A Schools, defeating the Lathrop Malemutes last night in Boileau Hall.
The Rams won this contest in 4 sets.
They took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-20.
Lathrop was able to force one more set by winning the third 26-24, but the Rams were able to put the Malemutes away with a 25-23 win in the fourth.
This is the third win of the year over Lathrop for Monroe Catholic, which will secure the season sweep.
Chloe Maynard led the offensive efforts for the Rams, finishing the day with 18 kills.
Marian Nelson earned 32 digs while Tia Campinelli passed out 22 assists.
Lathrop was led by Julie Wolter and Aubrey Reed, who both earned 7 kills.
The Rams are now 6-2 overall this year while Lathrop falls to 3-4.
Monroe will host Hutchison on Tuesday while Lathrop is off until next Friday when they host Eielson.
Away from home, the West Valley Wolfpack were in action in Palmer.
They were able to defeat the Moose in four sets, winning the first, third, and fourth frames.
Kami Steel continued to ride the momentum from her MVP Performance in the West Valley Invitational, leading the team with 9 kills.
The Wolfpack will now be competing in the West Anchorage Spike-tacular over the weekend.
Pool Play began this afternoon and bracket play will start up on Saturday morning.
