Monroe Catholic Volleyball defeats Lathrop in 5 sets

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Lathrop Volleyball team hosted the Monroe Catholic Rams in a non-conference contest.
The Rams were victorious in this one, securing the victory in 5 sets.
Monroe was able to win the first two sets and were nearing a sweep.
The Malemutes, however, were able to stay alive with wins in the third and fourth sets.
In that fifth and final matchup, Monroe Catholic brought the night to an end with a 15-10 victory.
Madelaine (Maddie) Muromoto and Chloe Maynard led the offensive attack for the Rams, both finishing with 15 kills.
Maynard also anchored the defensive side of the net, leading the team with 8 blocks.
Tia Campanelli and Abigail Allen led the team in assists with 12.
Lathrop was led by Aubrey Reed and her nine kills, most of which came off of the 35 assists from Maya Pelayo.
The Malemutes will now fall to 1-2 overall and the Rams will improve to 3-1, with their lone loss of the season being to the 4A West Valley Wolfpack.
Monroe will now take on the North Pole Patriots in North Pole tonight while the Malemutes will be off until they play North Pole in the UAF Patty Center on September 6th.
