Monroe Catholic Volleyball Team Losses 5 Set Thriller to Mt. Edgecumbe

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Last night the Monroe Catholic Volleyball team fell to a 3A opponent for the first time this season, falling 3 sets to 2 to the Mount Edgecumbe Braves.
The Rams won the first set 25-11, but Mount Edgecumbe was able to respond with a 25-18 win the second.
These teams then traded wins yet again with Monroe taking the third set 25-16 and the Braves winning the fourth 25-22.
Mount Edgecumbe was able to secure the win with a 15-13 effort in the fifth and final set.
Chloe Maynard led both the Offensive and defensive sides of the ball for Monroe, finishing with 15 kills and 10 blocks.
Maddie Muromoto also crossed the double-digit barrier with 12 kills and Abigail Allen passed out 12 assists.
The Rams now fall to 5-2 overall this year.
They are still 2-0 in conference play.
They will be in action again starting tomorrow night.
They will be taking part in the West Valley Invitational Tournament along with the hosts West Valley, Lathrop, Hutchison, Eielson, North Pole, Delta, Valdez, Barrow, Mt. Edgecumbe, and Bartlett.
