Minnesota State Mavericks and Bowling Green Falcons to represent WCHA in National Championships

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The WCHA Championship game was held in Mankato Minnesota over the weekend and it was a classic.
The Minnesota State Mavericks defeated the Bowling Green Falcons 3-2 in overtime. ​
Bowling Green scored first near the end of the first period, and held that lead all the way up through the beginning of the third. ​
They then added another goal and held a 2-0 lead with less than two minutes to go in the game. ​
The Mavericks then staged an insane comeback, scoring two goals in less than a minute to force overtime. ​
They officially snatched victory from the jaws of defeat 1 minute and 37 seconds into that overtime period thanks to a goal by Nick Rivera. ​
Jake Jaremko and Connor Mackey provided the other two goals for the WCHA Champions while Goaltender Dryden McKay earned the win between the pipes, stopping 17 of the 19 shots fired his way. ​
While the Mavericks may have won the Conference Title, both of these teams have earned a spot in the NCAA Championships. ​
The Mavericks will be the top seeded team in the East and will take on Providence in the first round. ​
Other top seeds in the tourney will be Minnesota Duluth, Massachusetts, and Saint Cloud State. ​
Bowling Green will be facing Duluth in their first round matchup. ​
In total, 16 Division 1 teams will be competing in the NCAA Championship tournament. ​
The Frozen Four will be held in Buffalo New York starting on April 11th. ​
