Military personnel from Eielson and Wainwright face off in annual hockey game

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Saturday, the Carlson Center was packed to witness the 24th annual Alaskan Ice Classic Hockey Game between the Air Force and the Army.
The Eielson Icemen met the Fort Wainwright Arctic Warriors on the Ice in a battle between the branches for the Commander's Cup.
The representatives from Wainwright were victorious in this edition of the event, winning in a 9-2 effort.
They outscored the Air Force 3-1 in each of the first two periods and then blanked them 3-0 in the third to secure the win, avenging their loss in this same contest a year earlier.
Despite the hard play on the ice, the players still took time after the game to join together and celebrate their efforts.
"We all know each other really well. We all play in the men's league in town, we play in tournaments across the country. So we go out there and we compete because that's what we want, but when the games over we're all sharing some beers and having a good time and swapping stories so that's great. It's a very humbling experience to be a part of the team and to give back to the community that provides so much for us. So yeah it's great," said Captain Benjamin Cohen.
