FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Another student athlete from the interior signed her National Letter of Intent this afternoon.
This time it was Lathrop Volleyball and track standout Maya Pelayo.
Pelayo will have the opportunity to play two sports at the college level, competing in Volleyball and Track & Field at Roberts Wesleyan College.
Pelayo has shined in both of those sports at the High School level, being named an All-Conference Volleyball player as well as winning last year's region championship in the Discus.
The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks are an NCAA Division 2 program in Rochester New York who are members of the East Coast Conference.
We spoke with Maya after she signed about finding the right spot to take her athletic career to the next level.
"It felt good, it made me have more confidence in myself. And it just lets me know that I'm capable of more than I think I am. It just makes me want to keep working harder and harder every time I step into the gym or every time I get touches on the court," said Pelayo.
