FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Two of our Railbelt Conference Football teams were in action on Saturday night when Lathrop hosted North Pole in a battle for the Mayor's Bowl.
Lathrop dominated this year's game, earning a 70-0 win in the process.
The Malemutes seemingly scored every time they touched the ball, starting with a Jaden Littell pass to Michael Zadra only three plays in.
Juan Mendez and Michael Zadra put the Malemutes on the board again with Back-to-back pick 6s.
Zadra then scored on a Punt return to put up six more points, and Littell finished the scoring in the first quarter with a pass to Mendez.
The Mutes held a 34-0 lead after the first 12 minutes and never looked back from there.
Lathrop is now 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Railbelt play.
North Pole is still searching for their first win at 0-6 overall.
Littell and Zadra talk about their team's dominating effort.
"It's surreal right now. We haven't put up this kind of points in a long time. It just feels good to be able to do that again. We feel good right now but we still have two more conference games. We have to buckle up and get ready for the next game. It's like the playoffs, we can't afford to lose right now," said Zadra.
"It was a good hard-working week of practice. We had a great week of practice. We were working hard and it shows up on the field, like this. We were all clicking out there finally. It feels great because we started the first conference game with a win. And a win like that feels really good," said Littell.
Lathrop Travels to Palmer for their game this weekend and the Dog Bowl will be held the following weekend.
North Pole will look for their first win this weekend when they play West Valley.
