FAIRBANKS, Alaska - In the Division 2 Semi-finals, the Lathrop Malemutes suffered a heart-breaking loss down in Palmer.
The Eagle River Wolves won that contest 30-24.
Lathrop held a 24-22 lead with only one minute and 24 seconds left in the game.
Eagle River was able to score on an improbable 56 yard touchdown pass to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Jaden Littell threw three touchdown passes while his little brother Jaren kicked a field goal to lead the Mutes in scoring.
This will end the Lathrop season at 6-3 overall, falling one win short of a state championship appearance.
The Wolves will now have a tough task ahead of them in the State Championship game.
They take on the reigning and defending six time state champion Soldotna Stars, who will be looking to add an 11th ring to their incredible dynasty.
