Kramer captures third straight XC State Title

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) It was a historic weekend for one of the state's most decorated prep athletes competing right now. West Valley's Kendall Kramer earned her third straight individual state title at the cross country championships in Anchorage this weekend. With a time of 17 minutes, 38.3 seconds, Kramer dusted the next competitor by 35 seconds for the second fasted time ever recorded on the Bartlett Trails. The only girl with a faster time is Allie Ostrander, who is a three time state champion herself and a Team USA member competing at the world track championships. As a team, West Valley placed second overall behind South Anchorage. Naomi Bailey placed third, while Maggie Druckenmiller secured fifth for the Wolfpack in a field of 81 girls. Lathrop finished eighth, with Abigail Haas and Amy Pilon both placing in the top 25 overall.

For the boys, West Valley took third as a team, while Lathrop placed eighth. Region VI champion Daniel Abramowicz finished 10th overall, one of five Wolfpack boys in the top 25, while Jonathan Ebel paced the Lathrop boys.

In Division III, the Hutchison boys placed sixth as a team, with Preston Silas leading the way for the Hawks. The Monroe Catholic girls took third place, as Katie Bast anchored the Rams with a fifth place finish, one of three Monroe runners in the top 15.
