Iron Dog 2019: Defending Champions first team to reach Nome Halfway point

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 2019 Iron Dog has hit its halfway point as the top five racers have arrived in Nome.
The Defending champions, Mike Morgan, and Chris Olds arrived in Nome late this afternoon, leading the pack of racers.
The second place team of Bryan Leslie and Casey Boylan arrived only five minutes later, while team six, Brad George and Adam Drinkhouse, will round out the top three.
Robby Schachle and Scott Faeo arrived about six minutes after George and Drinkhouse, while Tyson Johnson and Tyler Aklestad also checked in to the halfway point this afternoon.
This will begin the final half of the race where the competitors will turn around and embark towards the finish line in Fairbanks.
All of these top five teams have used 30 of their 50 mandatory Layover hours.
