Ice Dogs drop series finale to Springfield

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs closed out their weekend series against the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday night at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
In what was basically the opposite of Friday's game, the Blues came away with a 4-3 win.
Springfield scored first but Fairbanks was able to tie it up at one to end the first period.
The second period was a similar story, with Springfield scoring, and the Dogs tying it back up about 10 minutes later.
The Blues finally gave themselves the lead for good with a goal at the end of the second period, and one more early in the third.
The Ice Dogs made it a one goal game about 7 minutes into the final frame but were never able to erase that deficit.
John Stampohar, Luke Mobley, and Luke Ciolli accounted for the scores for the Dogs, who are now 19-12-3-2 on the year.
They have sole possession of second place in the Midwest Division with 43 points.
The Dogs will be at home again this weekend for their three-game "Stick it to Cancer" series against the Chippewa Steel.
