FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's time to check out the top plays of the week in the I-5.
Starting off this week's I-5 is the first Nanook Goal of the year in the Carlson Center for Nanook Hockey. Simon Fraser's Goaltender is able to stop one shot, but Kylar Hope gets the rebound and fires it back into the net for the first goal of the night. The Nanooks would end up lighting the lamp 13 times in their exhibition contest against the Simon Fraser Clan.
Next up is Nanook Volleyball's Markie Miller. The Redshirt Sophomore takes the set and fires a kill so powerful that it knocks the Western Oregon defender on her backside. The Nooks would go on to sweep the Wolves, the first of two home sweeps last week.
In the third spot is Eielson Senior Runninback Jaydenn Manibusen, who takes the hand-off, spins off a defender and then sprints to the sideline. He is pushed by a Monroe defender but is able to stay in bounds, tight-rope walking his way into the endzone. This touchdown helped the Dirty Birds secure the Aurora Conference Championship.
And next up is West Valley Cross Country Runner Kendall Kramer, who was able to defend her State Championship. The Junior was able to secure her second state title in a row with a 17 minute,51 second effort in the five kilometer championship race.
And Avery Weston makes his return to the I-5 in the number 1 spot. The West Valley receiver has been making plays all year and he didn't disapoint in the Dog Bowl. This time he is able to outjump and outreach the Lathrop defender, Hauling in the score on fourth down to make it a five point game.
