FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's Monday night so you know what that means.
Time to look at the top plays of the past seven days in the I-5.
First up is Fairbanks' own Ty Proffitt, who was able to score in front of his home crowd on Friday night. Proffitt fires a shot right off the face-off and sneaks it past the Springfield goaltender to light the lamp. This was part of the Dogs dominant 8-1 win over the Jr. Blues.
We head to the Joe T. Court for the #4 play of the week where the Lathrop Malemutes defeated the North Pole Patriots. Lathrop is able to take advantage of a Patriot turnover, where Freshman Phenom Jakobee Johnson pulls off a blind bounce-pass to Tyrique Luke, who finishes the job.
The Nanook Women's Basketball team highlights play number three. Montana State Billings forces a turnover but Sabrina Ungaro is able to steal the ball right back. She then finds a wide-open Emily Evans for three points.
Next up is this play from the Championship game of the West Valley Ice Jam. Wolfpack senior Jozey Martellaro hurls this one past the half-court line to Sheridan Blasey, who immediately dishes it to Ali May for the layup. The potent offense for West Valley was on full display here, travelling the length of the court to score in less than five seconds.
And we head back to the ice for the #1 play this week with North Pole's Daniel Crutcher. Crutcher collects the puck behind his own goal and travels all the way up the ice through Juneau-Douglas defenders. With opposing players all around him, he fires one right past the goalie's left leg to put the Patriots up on the board.
