FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Devin Fry now brings US the I-5 for top plays this past week.
First up this week is Nanook Goaltender Anton Martinsson and his big weekend against the UAA Seawolves. In games three and four of the Governor's Cup, the Junior Goalie stopped all but one of the shots he faced, earning 46 saves and two wins between the pipes.
Next up we go to Joe T. Court where Lathrop's Torrin Johnson-Oats is able to completely shut down this attempted layup and rip the ball away. She then hauls a long pass all the way down the court to Lianna Tuck, who completes the play and adds two points for the Malemutes.
Next up we have senior night for the Nanook Women's Basketball team, where Ashli Blackburn finds her classmate Angela Murnion behind the arc. Murnion then takes the shot from the land of the threes, registering her final points as a Nanook in the process. Murnion, who has been recently rehabing from injury, nailed the only shot she took to finish with 3 points in 2 minutes.
And in the Men's game from that same night, senior guard Isaiah Easaw is able to sucker in a pair of defenders and then thread the needle with this perfect bounce pass to Michael Kluting. Kuting would end up leading the team in points with 27, while this was one of a team-high 6 assists from Easaw.
And at number one this week we have the Governor's Cup winning goal from Junior forward Kylar Hope. With the final game of the Governor's Cup series tied at one in the third period, Hoper collects a pass from Steven Jandric around the face-off circle and fires off this one-timer right past the goaltender to secure the win, and the 10th consecutive Governor's Cup for the Nanooks.
