I-5 for the Week of February 4th-10th

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's time for Devin Fry to give us a look at the Top Plays of the past seven days in the I-5.
Let's start this week's list off with a little bit of High School Hoops. Monroe Catholic's Katie Bast misses her initial 3-pointer but her classmate Sam Wheeler gets the rebound and returns the ball to Bast, who takes full advantage of the second chance, sinking this buzzer-beating three pointer.
We go to the college level for play #4, this one from the Nanook Men taking on the Saint Martin's Saints. SMU gets the rebounds and attempts to drive in, but Nanook Big Man Michael Kluting meets them at the glass to deliver this thunderous block.
We head up to Birch Hill and the Region 6 Skiing Championships for the next spot on the list, where the West Valley boys were dominant in Saturday's relay event. Wolfpack team B, consisting of Josh Baurick, Thomas Bueler, Eric DiFolco, and Individual Region Champ Ari Endestad took first in 34 minutes and 34 seconds. Team A, which consisted of Justice Bassette, Jordan Laker Morris, Dale Baurick, and Sam Delamere took second 5 seconds later. The next team didn't cross the finish line until five minutes later.
We focus on Ice Dogs Hockey for play number 2. In the Dogs series opener against Topeka, Tanner Edwards collects the puck off of a steal, shakes up a defender, and then sneaks this one into the back of the net right between the goalies legs. This would kickstart up a massive 4-goal run by the Dogs, leading to a 4-0 victory.
And Number one this week belongs to Nanook Senior Ryker Leer. Game two of the Governor's cup was tied at one goal each when Leer collects the pass from Justin Young. Despite being surrounded by Seawolves, Leer fires this long shot which dings off the left pipe and into the net. Leer's game-winner also tied the Governor's cup series at one game each.
