Hutchisons' Shurr signs soccer NLI

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Another Interior high school athlete is signing to compete at the next level.

Hutchison Hawks soccer player Sierra Shurr has inked her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Cal-State Monterey Bay.

Shurr was named Mid Alaska Conference MVP her senior year at Hutch and is planning on studying biology in college.

Shurr will be bringing both tangible and intangible talents to her new club.

"Well Sierra, she is a very smart player. She's not the biggest or the fastest, but generally she's tuned into what's going on on the field," Hutchison girls soccer head coach Martin Shurr said. "She sees the whole field you know, and is able to dictate the flow of play through the mid-field which allows her to set up teammates for scoring."

Cal-State Monterey Bay's season is set to begin in September.
