Hutchison Girls, Eielson Boys, and both Valdez teams advance to Aurora Conference Championships

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The opening day of the Aurora Conference Basketball tournament came to a close with the Semi-final games, and included a fairly sizable upset in each bracket.
We'll start off with the Girls, where Hutchison took down the #1 Seed Galena Hawks.
Hutchison, who came into the tournament as the #4 seed, upset Galena 48-45 to advance to the Aurora Conference Championship game.
They will play Valdez for the Aurora Conference title tonight, who advanced with a 36-27 win over Monroe Catholic.
In the consolation rounds this morning the Galena girls defeated Eielson 73-30 to advance, while Monroe beat Delta 43-29.
The Rams and Hawks will play in an elimination game tomorrow morning.
Now shifting gears to the Boy's Bracket, where the semi-finals began with the top seeded Valdez defeating Delta 60-47.
The upset came in the other semi-final where Eielson advanced to the Conference title game with a 39-35 win over Monroe Catholic.
The First place games will both take place tonight with Hutch and Valdez facing off for the Girl's Championship at 7 o'clock and the Boy's title game at 7:30.
Don't forget that our other Conference tournament will be taking place here in the Interior.
The Mid Alaska Conference Title will be decided between three teams.
In both the Boy's and Girl's Brackets, North Pole and Lathrop will face off in the opening rounds before taking on West Valley in the Championship games.
The winner of the MAC Tournament will earn a trip to state.
